A Massive potential

Through research conducted with over 60,000 people, He Gets Us has been able to identify four main audience groups that make up the 261M adults in the U.S: Non-Christians, Spiritually Open, Cultural Christians, and Engaged Christians. 

Research indicates that 83% of Americans are open to listening about Jesus. And despite church attendance declining, the Spiritually Open and Cultural Christians still have respect for Jesus. That’s 55% of all adult Americans or what we call the “moveable middle”.

How the movement started

In 2021, a group of donors raised a troubling question: How did the world’s greatest love story become known as a hate group?

They saw what we all see–a decline in respect and relevance for Jesus and Christianity in our culture, and they recognized that fewer people seemed open to hearing the Gospel because of the way culture perceives Christianity.

This group of donors felt called to do something about it.


Before He Gets Us launched nationwide, $10MM was invested in a He Gets Us pilot in 10 major markets around the country. By using the best tools of our media-saturated culture, He Gets Us has been able to tell stories too good to ignore. As the team has learned from our country’s response to Jesus through Super Bowl ads and national media campaigns, it’s clear to see growing excitement and engagement.

Super Bowl 2023

During the 2023 Super Bowl, searches for Jesus on Google increased significantly and were even higher than at Christmastime. In addition, we saw searches about Jesus’ divinity increase by +1200% after the Super Bowl, which shows us that the story of Jesus’ humanity is leading to questions about his divinity.

According to USA Today’s ranking of Super Bowl ads, He Gets Us was the "most mentioned ad of the year".
